Meet Our Doctors


Meet Dr. Roy

Dr. Barnali Roy grew up in Southern California. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry with a minor in Psychology from the University of California, San Diego. After college, she spent one year doing research in Boston at Harvard Medical School. She then went on to obtain her doctor of dental surgery (DDS) degree from Columbia University College of Dental Medicine where she was honored with an Award for Academic Excellence in Pediatric Dentistry.

During dental school, Dr. Roy realized her passion for working with children. She completed a postdoctoral residency program in Pediatric Dentistry at Columbia University-New York Presbyterian Hospital. During residency, she gained extensive experience in working with children with special healthcare needs, craniofacial anomalies, interceptive orthodontics, and treatment with IV and oral sedation. Dr. Roy is a board-certified Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry.

Dr. Roy is an assistant professor at the UCSF School of Dentistry. She also serves as a committee member on the California Society of Pediatric Dentistry. She is an active member of the California Dental Association, American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, American Dental Association, Contra Costa Dental Society, and San Francisco Dental Society. Each year, Dr. Roy participates in global mission trips to help provide dental care to children in various underserved parts of the world.

Outside of dentistry, Dr. Roy enjoys spending time with her family, friends, and dog Buddy. She enjoys doing yoga, going on hikes, running, art, watching sports, volunteering and exploring the Bay area! Dr. Roy can also speak Spanish and Bengali.

Meet Dr. Jen

Dr. Jennifer Tung grew up in the Bay Area.  She is grateful to be serving her home community of Lafayette with the amazing Tooth Buds team.  She moved to San Diego to study at the University of California, San Diego where she received her Bachelors of Science degree in Human Biology as well as her Masters of Science degree in Biology, specializing in pediatric immunology.  While working at numerous dental practices throughout California, she found her true passion in working with children. 

She moved back to San Francisco with her husband to pursue her doctorate degree in dentistry at the University of the Pacific Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry, where she was honored to graduate as the class Valedictorian. She completed her pediatric dentistry residency at the University of Southern California, Herman Ostrow School of Dentistry where she worked at Miller Children’s Hospital in Long Beach, Children’s Hospital in Los Angeles and Children’s Hospital in Orange County. She is an active member of the California Society of Pediatric Dentistry, American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry and is a board-certified Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry.

Dr. Tung enjoys spending time with her wonderful and supportive husband, her baby boy and her very high energy dog who keeps everyone covered in slobber and snuggles.

Meet Our Team



Office Manager

Jessica grew up in the Bay Area and she has been in dentistry since 2013. While going to school to become a Registered Nurse, Jessica interned for a practice that included both medical and dental. She fell in love with the dental field, and has been a part of it ever since! Aside from being in the dental field, Jessica enjoys cooking, arts and crafts, interior design and spending time with her husband, step-son, family and friends.

Patient Coordinator

Sophia is an East Bay native who recently graduated from University of California, Santa Barbara with a BS in Biology. While studying there, she started working at a dental office and quickly discovered her passion for dentistry. She hopes to become a dentist in the future and continue making patients smile. Aside from dentistry, she enjoys staying active, cooking, doing arts and crafts, and tending to her plants.

Staff Ashley


Registered Dental Assistant

Ashley grew up in the Bay Area and she has been in dentistry as a RDA since 2012. She loves working with kids and currently working towards her long time goal of obtaining her Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree as well as in her spare time volunteers for the California Dental Association (CDA) Foundation. Outside of dentistry, Ashley enjoys traveling, arts and crafts, hiking, and spending time with her son, family and friends.

Dental Assistant

My name is Melissa Vargas, I was born and raised in Sonoma County. I am currently making the transfer to Diablo Valley College with hopes of earning an AS in Dental Assisting and continuing working towards becoming a Dental Hygienist. Besides going to school I enjoy drives to the beach, photography, cooking, and spending time with friends and family. 


Staff Buddy


Therapy Dog

Buddy is our Certified Office Therapy Dog. He is a Chiwoxy (a mix between a Wired Hair Terrier and a Chihuahua). Buddy received his certification through the Canine Good Citizen course. He is sweet, gentle, and loves to snuggle! He has helped many of our patients feel more at ease, so please let us know if you would like to meet or cuddle with him during your visit! 🙂
